Shouting Against The Wind: A Read-in Thursday April 27th, 2017
Stand Against Racism is a signature campaign of YWCA USA to build community among those who work for racial justice and to raise awareness about the negative impact of institutional and structural racism in our communities. This campaign is one part of our larger national strategy to fulfill our mission of eliminating racism.
The YWCA Greater Lafayette and the Younger Women’s Task Force of Greater Lafayette partnered for this Stand Against Racism Event on April 27. The event was geared towards amplifying the voices of Womxn of Color Leaders for social change throughout time.

Protect Planned Parenthood Lafayette- a teach-in and action
On February 11, 2017, rallies were held at Planned Parenthood locations throughout the United States to call on Congress and President Trump to strip Planned Parenthood of all federal funding and reallocate those funds to health centers that help disadvantaged women without destroying human life through abortion. YWTF hosted a teach-in and action at Carnahan Hall that day where we learned about the intersectionality of reproductive justice and wrote valentines to our government representatives. A crowd of more than 200 gathered for this day with publicity coverage from local news stations. Our valentines then joined with a larger state-wide action and were delivered on February 14th to the Indiana Statehouse.
Into the Body Workshop
March 5th we sponsored “Moving Into the Body: a Workshop on Embodiment and Mindfulness” with facilitator Francine Passias, CHP who led us in a movement meditation to restore our center and remind us of our body’s wisdom.
